Hiroko Nakajima is a graduate of Musashino Art University. Beginning her practice in textile design, she became fascinated bythe structural logic of geometric patterns and the aesthetics of repetition.Her subsequent research at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Göttingen in Germany deepened her interest in invisible structures andconceptual mathematics, which she now explores through a unique visuallanguage.

 

Using geometric forms, characters, and symbols as her materials, she introducesintuitive elements of ma (interval) and subtle dislocations intosystematic compositions, creating works that explore the tension betweencontinuity and disruption. Her ongoing series, CONTINUUM, spans diversemedia—including two-dimensional works, installations, and sculpture—crossingdisciplinary boundaries to visualize the interconnected nature of the world.

 

She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program, where she continues to pursue research and artistic production at the intersection of mathematics, and aesthetics.

 

Major exhibitions include CONTINUUM: What Constitutes This World (2021, PolaMuseum of Art).

中嶋浩子（Hiroko Nakajima）は、武蔵野美術大学造形学部デザイン学科卒業。テキスタイルを出発点に、幾何学的構造や連続模様に潜むパターン性に魅了され、以後、ドイツ・ゲッティンゲン大学数理研究科での研究を経て、不可視の構造や数学的思考を視覚芸術として展開する独自のスタイルを築く。

 

幾何学形態や文字、記号を素材に、直感的な「間」や「ズレ」を加えることで、連続性と破綻の狭間にある美を表現。多様なメディアを横断しながら、“CONTINUUM”シリーズとして、平面、立体、インスタレーションなど領域を超えて制作している。

 

近年は情報理工学研究科の博士課程に在籍し，情報理工学との協働による数学・美学の交差をテーマに研究にも取り組む。

 

主な展覧会に「CONTINUUM｜この世界を構成するもの」（2021年 ポーラ美術館）など。
