Hiroko Nakajima is a graduate of Musashino Art University. Beginning her practice in textile design, she became fascinated by the structural logic of geometric patterns and the aesthetics of repetition. Her subsequent research at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Göttingen in Germany deepened her interest in invisible structures and conceptual mathematics, which she now explores through a unique visual language.

Using geometric forms, characters, and symbols as her materials, she introduces intuitive elements of ma (interval) and subtle dislocations into systematic compositions, creating works that explore the tension between continuity and disruption. Her ongoing series, CONTINUUM, spans diverse media—including two-dimensional works, installations, and sculpture—crossing disciplinary boundaries to visualize the interconnected nature of the world.

She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Informatics and Engineering, University of Electro-Communications, where she continues to pursue research and artistic production at the intersection of AI, mathematics, and aesthetics.

Major exhibitions include CONTINUUM: What Constitutes This World (2021, Pola Museum of Art).

東京生まれ。武蔵野美術大学造形学部工業工芸デザイン学科 テキスタイルデザイン専攻卒業。ドイツ、ゲッティンゲン大学数理研究科にて「見えない部分を構成するもの」を概念数学の世界に見たことで、連続模様（パターン）の背景にある数学的なシステムに魅了され制作を続けている。幾何学的形態や文字をシンボル化し、連続的な規則性の中に「間」や「ズレ」を直感的に加え独自に「CONTINUUM」として表現している。テキスタイルのみならず、インスタレーション、平面、立体作品のアートワークから、デザイン、建築プロジェクト等様々なメディウムでの作品制作に取り組み、領域を横断して「連続する世界」を展開している。また、情報理工学研究科の博士課程に在籍し、情報理工学との協働によるAI・数学・美学の交差をテーマに研究・制作を続けている。
 

近年の展覧会に「CONTINUUM｜ この世界を構成するもの」（2021年 ポーラ美術館 アトリウムギャラリー）がある。
